JOHN SELIMOĞLU, MDes, MA
Hello!
I’m a UI/UX designer based in Toronto and Istanbul, holding a graduate degree from Emily Carr University of Art + Design. With well over a decade in the design field, I’ve led my own agency, taught design at the university level, and collaborated with diverse teams to bring digital projects to life.
My proficiency with industry-standard tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Framer and Illustrator allows me to craft and implement comprehensive design systems rooted in atomic design principles.
I also like to use AI technology such as Leonardo AI, Figjam AI, Jambot, Dall-E and ChatGPT to streamline my work.
User research and usability testing are cornerstone elements of my process. Through prototypes, wireframes, journey maps and observation, I strive to ensure every design is intuitive and enjoyable for everyone.
I believe in adaptability to change and collective progress through iterations, enabling effective collaboration within Agile teams.

I’m excited to showcase an earlier project that I’m still proud of! Featured below are images from my critical design project on militarism in video games, created in 2006. This project was an interactive prototype developed using Adobe Director, incorporating hundreds of frames of 3D Cel animation crafted in Newtek Lightwave. It represents a significant milestone in my journey as a designer.
